Okay, so here’s the deal. Far Out There is back on its “new pages Tuesday & Friday” schedule. However, Friday also happens to be New Year’s, and I’ve got a special page in the works to commemorate the event. Since I don’t want to preempt Friday’s page so soon after getting back on schedule, the New year’s page will be posted on THURSDAY, so tune in early for that. (Besides, we all know New Year’s Eve is the REAL holiday, New Year’s Day is just for sleeping it off)

Anyway, this is one of those pages that really caught me by surprise as I wrote it. When I first came up with Dr. Caligari, my understanding was he’d always been CRAZY, just that he was a crazy SCIENTIST before becoming a crazy ALCHEMIST. But from how Tabitha describes the guy here, he actually sounds pretty sane and well-adjusted. I guess you could point out that the guy’s own daughter isn’t the most reliable narrator, so Tabitha COULD be remembering him in a favorable light. Honestly though, the notion that the good Doctor was once a genuinely upstanding guy, only recently bent into a raving lunatic, is WAY more interesting. I wonder what could have driven him so bugnut insane? …oh right, I’m the one writing this stuff. I guess I’d better get to work on that.

(Oh, and check it out! Now we know what that blue thing was all about!)
