I kind of worked myself into being displeased with this page.  I felt bad about how many of the previous pages had totally punked out at showing real backgrounds, so I made a real point of fitting in the usual slew of vending machines in the final panel again.  Except, when I did it that way, it felt… wrong.  I’m not sure how good a job I can do explaining this, but the layout that was forming around the page felt like it was making way too big a deal out of something that really isn’t dramatic at all.  I dunno, maybe I’ve been exposed to too much slop writing that tries to make every third line feel significant and epic, but I had the absolutely irresistible compulsion to throw the other characters into the background and say something silly… even though it was WAY too late to be drawing more art OR to rework the layout in a way that would result in lots of wasted space. Drat.

In my own mild defense, it was a VERY busy weekend and I kind of had to bash out the bulk of this page during stolen moments between other things.  In fact, a decent part of the last panel was inked at a picnic table at a park while desperately trying to keep the sheet of paper from blowing away.  And ya’ll thought I never left my computer desk, didn’t ya?
