page 1417 – Not An Accurate Depiction Of The Finished Ship
I just want to state for the record that the plan here was always for the prospect of Stilez being a potential disruption that needed dealing with was always going to be a plot point here… but the thought that Stilez EATING the ship might be part of the problem never even occurred to me until it was suggested in the comments. That’s just too funny of an idea not to draw, even if only as a cutaway gag.
Anyway, I’m going ahead and slapping this comic up on Monday night, partially because there was a whole rigamarole with the site going down for maintenance right as I was in the middle of getting the previous page finished and I’m still feeling a little paranoid about it. But also, I need to go ahead and get all of THIS stuff squared away so I can dive straight into some *ahem* OTHER projects that need to be finished in the very near future…

What exactly is Stilez taking over to the other ship?
😉
Dang it, now I can’t look at that line without reading it as that either!
Now we just need to throw in a few more random references to the mysterious ‘it’ here and there without ever having a reveal, leaving everyone wondering. It’ll be the Todd TV head for the new generation!
I think that it’s more an indication of how badly all of Ichabod’s Jobs end up being that he’s asking Mariska that question, while Mariska’s comments are an indication of how most Nitpicker’s jobs go. That is to say, Ichabod’s jobs usually have three to twenty present issues at any moment, while Mariska’s and most Nitpicker’s jobs typically max out at 3 major issues.
Yes, that DOES mean that Ichabod has been only been doing what he considers to be “easy” Jobs since Trigger & Layla joined at the start of this comic.
Another way of putting it could be that Mariska tends to tune out 75% of her current issues until they all blow up in her face, while Ichabod tends to obsess over them all even when he doesn’t have to.
