And with this, Far Out There begins its TOTALLY REAL AND NOT AT ALL AN APRIL FOOLS JOKE shift into being one of those soap opera newspaper comics for grown-ups that all us kids just ignored because we were too busy reading the funnies that were actually FUNNY.
I gotta be honest, though, as much as you can REALLY tell I was out of my element trying to make this kind of character art happen, it actually was kind of fun trying to come up with sufficiently campy melodramatic dialog. Also, I must confess that the use of screen tone on this comic really isn’t that close to the classic newspaper comic vibe, that would require a lot more crosshatching and heavy inked shadows. But what has two thumbs and really sucks at both those artistic techniques? THIS GUY!
Anyway, yeah, April Fools everybody. Be sure to check back on Friday for the next REAL comic, and a new TWC Voting Incentive as well!

Headcannon interpretation: Trigger managed to get together with Skye for five minutes, before Layla “accidentally” killed her five seconds after they stopped snogging.
Meanwhile, the younger half of the audience is checking Wikipedia or Google to find out what this “newspaper” thing is.
🙂
…and a few pretentious hipsters are thinking this is a really weird Roy Lichtenstein reference.
Then Layla points out to Tabitha that the root of this problem all started when poor Trigger was a young, vulnerable child and some dangerous older woman had inappropriate contact with him. 😮
