Now THIS one I really like. Once again, I was looking for a way to do the whole dramatic lighting thing differently, and doing this page entirely in pencil had the added bonus of completely skipping the coloring process!
And speaking of happy accidents, that bit of dialog is a last minute attempt to cover up my forgetting that Avatar shouldn’t be holding a drink. I don’t even remember what Layla was ORIGINALLY going to say, but I know it wasn’t as funny as this. SCORE!
Hm… smell works by chemical “odorants” binding with receptors, so I’m surprised Avatar can smell. Or I would be if anything about her made sense, but this mad science! Where “make a little girl invincible” is the “sensible” answer to “what if the universe ends”
If I’m remembering correctly, I THINK this was discussed on the old forum once. I feel like the explanation was that whatever design features that allow Avatar to exist in the vacuum of space is also enough to keep the particles she smells from getting past her nose into the rest of her system. I also feel like that didn’t actually hold up if you thought about it for too long.
