Hey, don’t even ACT like you don’t think I would commission an entire album of fictional advertisements if I could. I already did a whole series of Voting Incentives that were basically reviews for albums that don’t exist. I’ve got a word document full of fake anime to use in Conventional Wisdom that’s legitimately the size of a book at this point. Fake commercial jingles is honestly one of the LESS ridiculous things I would do.
Also, I like to think that the purple-haired one wasn’t supposed to be holding that guitar during the photoshoot, but he refused to put it down because he wanted to “BE TAKEN SERIOUSLY AS A MUSICIAN, DANG IT!”
Honestly, I would be surprised if the Skyscraper Girl’s most profitable songs aren’t either jingles, or were rapidly used in an ad in a way akin to a jingle. Which is part of why they aren’t taken seriously as musicians, despite actually being decent musicians. Another part being the fact that most assume (partially inaccurately) that they don’t write their own songs (or jingles), and lack of pointless mutations to help them stand out.
Of course, ever since they invented those self-playing guitars that gravitometrically manipulate their holder’s arms, hands, and fingers so that people with no knowledge of music at all can play with the same level of skill as a master who studied their entire life, the fact that one plays one’s own instruments is itself taken far less seriously. And if you’re not using one of those and ARE really playing your own instrument yourself, cynical fans just assume you’re using one anyway.
Personally, I blame Milli Vanilli for disillusioning everyone millions of years ago.
