And now Ram Quatzi’s back in the mix! Actually, he’s been having little cameos for a while since his introduction, and I think I actually like him better as a TV pitchman than a physically present character.
Speaking of not physically present, I have a terrible, embarrassing secret to confess: I got so caught up in finding places to wedge in cameos for other characters that… well… I completely forgot about giving Avatar something to do during the parade. By the time I realized this ghastly error, it was too late in the game to do anything other than stick in some moments of her watching the parade on TV. Needless to day, this is an inexcusable oversight. Those responsible (me) have been sacked.
(Historical Notes: I’m a little surprised Brain Slugs stuck around as a gag for as long as they did. I’ve generally moved away from using jokes from other sources, as they’re less “shout outs” than “blatant plagiarism” but somehow this one Futurama gag lingered for a WHILE.)
At first I was going to nitpick that Ram claims they are “guaranteed not to suck out our cerebral cortex” instead of “YOUR cerebral cortex” as a typo, but now that think of it, he actually CAN guarantee that. It’s exactly the type of “technically true but still deceptive” claim he would make.
Also, what plagiarism? Futurama brain slugs are green whereas yours are grey. COMPLETELY. DIFFERENT.
