page 1413 – Incredibly Unexpected Surprise Twist
WE ARE ALL TOTALLY THROWN OFF BY THIS UNFORESEEN DEVELOPMENT THAT DEFINITELY NOBODY HAS TALKED ABOUT AT ANY POINT.
Actually, I’m a little disappointed in myself for not remembering that today was St. Patrick’s Day in time to do a holiday gag instead… but on the other hand, I kind of got too into the random food jokes over the past few weeks. We really don’t need to be putting off actual plot development any longer.
Also, if anybody wants a quick peak at how the sausage is made, the original idea for the second panel was waaaaaay more straighforward, without any of the weird perspective elements. It probably would have been a lot quicker to draw, too. Instead, I was up all night editing crap and trying to make the visual gag work, and I do think it eventually turned out a lot better than my usual attempts at foreshortening. That isn’t it doesn’t QUITE look like Stilez suddenly sprouted Shaq-sized feet out of nowhere.

Yep, that food-based spaceship won’t last the next five minutes. Just like what Ed8 said literally last page. That said, it was too close to this page for it to not have already been planned by Blitz.
At the risk of giving away too much, we haven’t actually established WHAT Stilez will do yet, just guaranteed she’ll be doing SOMETHING or other.
Surprise! Stilez shows up and is immensely helpful and productive, and contributes several helpful suggestions, which are appreciated by all present! (Except Tax is disappointed, though.)
We have literally seen Stillez eat basically the entirety of this room’s vending machines, and you have a food-based spaceship that she will inevitably come across. It is NOT lasting five minutes on the outside of her stomach once she sees it. Particularly since she just had a nap, which helps with digestion.
Unless Tax says she likes the ship, or wants to fly in it, or anything Tax related that requires the ship to continue existing, in which case Stilez can’t destroy it, no matter how tasty it is.
This is DEFINITELY giving too much away (where’s my “bites tongue” button?) but all this speculation hinges on Stilez actually making it up to the dining hall to even see the food ship in the first place.
True, but the only thing known to prevent Stillez from going ANYWHERE she wants is a shower. Which means that Stillez-proofing a room is simultaneously surprisingly easy and obnoxiously annoying.
….or a blue line. That has been known to stop her.

Stillez was likely told that there’s a continuously moving shower after that blue line. That’s the only thing that would get her to stop, and gives a reason for the line to be blue. As blue is the most common colour used to indicate water in English Speaking Countries.
Yes, apparently that’s the bath-taking section
https://faroutthere.com/?comic=page-1009-restricted-area
Gee, it sure would be a shame if it turned that, at some point in all the recent chaos, one of those blue lines accidentally got smudged or wiped away, huh?
that would be terrible! fortunately the highly advanced distant future marker technology is designed to prevent smudging! maybe….
(I’ll just assume some sort of technobabble field structure radiation Tabitha did that encompassed the entire ship accidentally broke down the marker’s indelibility matrix)
They’re currently inside the cafeteria. There IS no blue-lines stopping Stillez getting here, because Stillez was in here for a LONG while.
Now, if the Kids are brought back onto THIS ship, that’s another thing. But I vaguely remember them seeing Stillez already, so they know she’s onboard, and if they’re back on the ship they’ll want to annoy her at some point anyway.
The comment threat stretched down to far for me to make another direct reply, so I’ll just say here that, TECHNICALLY, Stilez made it up to the dining hall again last time by smashing holes up through the floor, thus bypassing the lines entirely. So, technically, they still work when Stilex actually sees them… there’s just more ways around that than anyone realized.
I was referring to the fact that Stillez literally had food on her on page 1009, and the only two food-related rooms we have EVER been introduced to is the Food Court & the Kitchen. The Kitchen being introduced well AFTER page 1009, and having actively not been used for an extended period of time. Suggesting that Stillez was in a place with access to the Food court when she was told what the Blue Lines were for.
just from memory i think she was also in a storage room where all the unused vending machines are kept before they are swapped out- i think that was where she first fought the food monster(?)
