page 1242 – no shenanigans
Layla’s been paying enough attention to know exactly who the problem is, and who it isn’t.
So, sorry we’re back to being a bit late again. You know all those times I’ve complained about there being something in a page I’m not happy with, but there wasn’t time to go back and redraw anything from scratch? Well, this time I around, I actually DID chuck out some art I wasn’t happy with and drew everything all over again… more than once, actually! I know, you wouldn’t think it from just looking at it, but this simple page of people standing around talking took a LOT of trial and error to get into a presentable state. I didn’t to a very good job with the planning/rough draft step this time around, so the original layout was a total mess. Speaking of having trouble laying things out, what happened to Hiro? He just VANISHED! I promise he’s still in this scene, he didn’t run away or anything, but I moved all the characters and frames around so much that he just kinda got bumped out of the page entirely. Um… Oops?
EDIT: New Voting Incentive is up! …and I unintentionally broke the “colorful/not-colorful” rhythm we had going there for a while.
And Marshall now has an unattainable crush. Well, unattainable unless he has rich parents, and even then he’ll probably need a few years before Layla thinks of him as anything but a child to be protected or punished, like the rest of the children in this page, but still.
There’s one specific detail in that paragraph which will be directly addressed in a page not too far away, but for now I’ll keep everybody in suspense as to which one it is.
I believe that you’ve already established that Marshall came from a family that is well off. Maybe not as well off as the Boy Quartet’s Families, but the implication was that he was at least as well off as Layla’s immediate parents were. Though I don’t know if Layla knows about that.
The better option, in my opinion, is actually bringing up why Layla isn’t playing flirtatious with the boys, given how rich they are. Is it actually because they’re children, or does Layla have a preference for males older than her? Hell, is it because they’re rich enough to be indentured to those actively hitting on them, and the easier method to seduce them is to pay innocent attention to them? Probably not that one, but it’s still a possibility until it’s actually explained.
Well, remember the that LAST time she tried to actively hit on a boy monetary gain, it all blew up in her face. So there’s also that to consider.
