page 1225 – everything now makes sense
Well, that clears all the stuff RIGHT up. Yup, totally nothing that needs theorizing about here.
More importantly, at least from where I’m sitting, I FINALLY managed to get a bit ahead on pages! As I write this, not only is page 1226 finished and ready to post, but I’ve actually got page 1227 scanned and mid-editing right now! I ought to have it completely finished by the time I finally go to bed, and then I’ll have a whopping TWO WEEKS to focus on Conventional Wisdom stuff! …aside from all the Patreon things and TWC incentives and stuff like that I’ll still have to do. Look, the point is, I’m away at a convention this weekend, and I’m supposed to do ANOTHER con at the end of next month, so I really need to get all the CW stuff from con no. 1 done as quick as possible. Since nothing eats up time quite like having to shift gears when I’m finally in the groove on one project, having Far Out There squared away even for just a few weeks will hopefully help a lot. It DOES mean that the TWC Incentives for the next few weeks probably won’t be anywhere near as elaborate as the last few, but that probably needed to happen anyway. I’ve been getting waaaaaaay too indulgent on those things.
EDIT: Okay, it’s a bit early, but I went ahead and swapped out the Voting Incentive just to make sure I didn’t get distracted and forget about it tonight. I’m pretty frazzled, but I HAVE gotten more new stuff done over the past week than I previously had in years. It’s comforting to know that, once all this other stuff is finally taken care of, I still am physically capable of getting two Far Out There pages done in one week. All is not lost!
What?! Tabitha do something sketchy to the adolescent boys she was in charge of watching over? Certainly not!
https://faroutthere.com/comic/page-890-surprise/
I think Tabitha may be losing her babysitting license, at least where Layla is concerned.
So, it doesn’t just show her potential futures but her entire timeline. Hmmmm…..
Stilez escapes from a giant laboratory complex where she is being experimented on, the not-quite-all-powerful organization behind the lab complex attempts desperately to recover her but fails, and she meets and becomes best friends with Tax. All seems pretty clear! 😉
And, of course, the one kid whose visions might actually shed light on Stilez’s future is unable to verbalize it. Because Blitz loves to troll us 😀
Another possibility, though, is that the presence of Tax in Stilez’s future timeline is distorting/interfering with the perception of that timeline, to a degree where what he saw could not be expressed linguisticly (he just assumes it’s because he’s not good with words) – we do know that Tax has some sort of odd Time-related abilities in the sense of being able to perceive at least the near future. He may need to be careful – witnessing that is the sort of thing (artificially distorted alternate timelines) that tends to permanently damage one’s sanity, and these kids are already pretty close to the edge as it is.
As if there’s not already a Stilez cult. Probably several.
Honestly, any Stilez-centric Cult would probably end up getting destroyed by Stilez, destroyed trying to recreate Stilez (either through their attempts, or by someone with power/authority finding out what they’re attempting and nuking them and their attempts from orbit, if not outright destroying the planet as an ultimate “F*** NO!”), or be an apocalypse cult waiting for the Cat-Eared Destroyer of Worlds to come and do so to their world in the name of her master “Insert Cult’s Actual Diety/Great Old One/Other Form Of Greater Being here”.
…with the last one usually getting the cult destroyed for reasons either related or unrelated to Stilez.
Honestly, I can’t imagine that Stilez would even notice if there were a cult admiring her. She’s not really one to notice small details. Or medium details. Or large details. Really, unless she can eat it, it tries to attack her, or it tries to bathe her, she’s pretty oblivious. I’m thinking the cult or cults are really more like fan clubs. Not anything so deep as to interpret great spiritual significance around her. More like the Hochren Honee (or however that’s spelled) whose primary form of worship appears to be marketing/merchandising.
Who said anything about Stilez NOTICING the Cult? I just said that Stilez is the one responsible for destroying it (on occassion). That’s easily achievable by them trying something stupid like following Stilez around until she kills roughly 50% of everyone on a planet, or them attempting to kidnap & replace Tax only for Stilez to destroy them all, most of the population, and three quarters of the planet’s residences. Neither of which is related to Stilez noticing the Cult itself, or acknowledgeing the existance of any members (that didn’t touch Tax).
I really hate to not contribute to the discussion, but once again I find myself unsure what I can even say without giving anything away. Once again, strategic tongue biting.
Say things that give away knowledge that could become a historical noodle incident. Something like, “Before she met Tax, Stilez went to a planet which circumstantially had a cult worshipping her. That planet is now scoured of all life larger than an ant.”
