I always say that these Far Out There Christmas comics are as close as I’ll probably ever come to actually making my own holiday specials, and this time we’re taking that literally! For the next 25 days… well, 24 days if we don’t count today, I guess. And actually, the ending will- NEVER MIND! The point is, we’re gonna browse the shelves of the nonexistent Far Out There Videos and try to find the best faded, beat up, used VHS tape to get us in the spirit of the season! It’ll be fun! And confusing for the depressingly increasing number of kids out there who’ve never set foot in a video rental store at all, let alone one that stocks VHS! I’m so old!

Speaking of which, I really wish I’d had the foresight two decades ago to take some pictures inside the old movie rental place in Middlesex, North Carolina. That place was the absolute platonic ideal of a crummy old local video store. Small, cramped, cluttered, wood paneling everywhere, sun-bleached posters on the walls, candy machines that probably had the same candies in them since the late 80s, it was glorious. Oh well, I guess we’ll just have to make do with the Cinemassacre reference instead.

Also, I’m not sure if that experiment with the hair texture effect worked out really well or is THE WORST THING EVER AND NEEDS TO NEVER HAPPEN AGAIN. I could go either way on that.

(Historical Notes: Hey look!  It’s Past Me again!  Yep, by this point I’d had the good sense to completely mirror the Christmas content on other sites, not just the comics but commentary as well.  So from here on out, all original commentary will be provided courtesy of the Far Out There tumblr.  Looks like even that hellsite can be good for something!)
