page 1285 – sudden font reset
AAAAAAaaaand now we’re back to normal… and I only PARTIALLY mean that in relation to the Stilez personality shift that I’m sure will in no way turn out to be important in any future developments.
No, I mean the fact that, after weeks of weird and wacky production schedules and missed deadlines, I’m FINALLY getting pages done in a timely fashion again! Heck, I’m actually queuing this page up WAY before any of you are reading it. When was the last time I was THAT far ahead of the curve? Hopefully I can, ya know, actually stick to this for a little while. I’m looking at you, Conventional Wisdom comics. Don’t you mess this up for me. OH! And with this much extra breathing room, there hopefully won’t be any trouble with a new TWC Voting Incentive either. Let’s see how many things I jinxed just now! PLACE YOUR BETS, FOLKS!
TWC EDIT: Well, I ALMOST forgot get the new Voting Incentive done, but it still made it up online without being too terribly late. Hooray!
Yep. I knew it would be exactly like this.
But don’t feel too relieved just yet Tax…
We shouldn’t gloss over the fact that Tax is apparently cognizant enough of the situation to even think to BE relieved at this point.
All we can hope for is that Marshall or, more likely, May, distracts Stilez with attention and adoration.
Well, if nothing else, Marshall DOES seem to have a track record of getting on really terrifying females’ good side.
A reminder of why the entire Galaxy lives in terror of this otherwise seemingly adorable and playful kitten….This really just emphasizes how utterly incredibly impressive it is that Ichabod managed to not only not be killed by but actually be liked by and made friends with this Stilez before she met Tax! (And it’s not as if he’s Mr. Likeable Personality Guy to begin with, right?)
I’m pretty sure Tax was made partly using data from Ichabod’s relation with Stilez.
Don’t forget, though, part of the reason Ichabod was nicer to Stilez than everybody else at the time is because he had an INCREDIBLY ill-advised and regrettable crush on her at the time. So there’s that.
I did say “partly”.
That said… The way a relationship works between two people dating and a child with a trusted adult is disturbingly similar.
In both cases, you go to special places together or to watch movies, you share the food from your plate with the other during meal times, you hug a lot and do things like kiss foreheads and cheeks, you share secrets and whisper things in each others ears while giggling, one will lean on the other to fall asleep, etc.
I think this is the first actual official author confirmation of that, though(?) Maybe? Sure, lots of folks have accused him of having said crush, but I figured that was entirely about giving Ichabod a hard time, rather than any actual confirmation.
Even so – she’s a Cute Amazon Warrior Catgirl who is famous across the entire universe – I’m sure there are a LOT of people with a crush on her. Extrapolating from the current real Interweb to the future population of nonillions of humans across the universe, there’s probably 10s or 100s of thousands of spaceweb sites dedicated to Stilez Fandom and Crushes, with total membership greater than the current Earth’s entire population. Despite her carving a trail of chaos and destruction and doom across the galaxy…or in many cases for certain demographics, probably because of that. And yet, out of the billions with a crush on the Universe’s Most Famous Catgirl of The Apocalypse, Ichabod was the only one to approach her, or at least the only one to do so and live to tell about it. Even though he seems very reluctant to tell about it. And certainly the only one she ended up actually liking. And actually remembering! That younger TKSoDD Ichabod really was an Action Hero! 🙂
Really? I thought it had been pretty clearly established as definitive… or at least that it USED to be. Even young, action hero Ichabod clearly can only put up with so much constant life-threatening terror before the bloom is off the rose.
The idea of Stilez having a full-on fandom is intriguing, though. I wonder what would happen if Ichabod bumped into some members of the Stilez Stalkers forum that he used to frequent but now tries to distance himself from?
In the comic itself, it was stated in such a way that there was a 95% chance of Ichabod’s previous crush existing, but I can’t remember about anywhere else, and that 5% exists purely because it wasn’t outright stated to be the case. In other words, the argument was strong enough to use it as the basis of assumptions and be correct, but has exactly the margin for error needed for it to be able to be questioned.
Yeah, there’s a delicate balancing act in maintaining Ichabod’s resolute desire to not think about that anymore while still, ya know, actually being clear to the reader what really went on.
