Steampunk Mothers Day
SURPRISE! There’s a Mothers Day page! …I really REALLY need to stop forgetting to mention that these extra pages are coming ahead of time. It just seems like these holiday pages keep landing right after some random website thing that ALSO needs announcing and I get distracted by that. But page 1223 is still coming tomorrow, so… hello to everybody who’s only seeing this the day after because THAT page linked back to this one!
People really should be checking this site every day regardless, so it’s totally on them if they miss something! 😉
Even if there’s no new page, there’s almost always new comments! There’s important stuff in there! 😀 …sometimes…
I wonder if people in the ultra-distant future actually realize that steampunk is a made up thing and there wasn’t actually an era of humanity in the past that was like that?
Or maybe there’s entire planets with societies that, like, for example, the Amish in RL, have chosen to fix themselves in a particular time period technologically and culturally, and they chose Steampunk, believing it was an actual period of human history? (Of course, nearly all steampunk tech wouldn’t actually work, so they use mad science to replicate the Steampunk tech they believe their distant ancestors had, while fervently debating how it was possible for their ancestors to have made it work without modern mad science workarounds. Kind of like we debate how our distant ancestors built giant pyramids that would be difficult for us to do even with modern powered construction equipment)
I haven’t had a chance to establish this in the main comic yet, but I have the idea that May is from a colony on a planet where some kind of scifi-whatsit field prevented modern technology from functioning, so they had to reverse everything to work with gears and clockwork instead …and because this is Far Out There, they eventually solved the problem but kept using the gears aesthetic on everything cos it was just their trademark gimmick and it looked cool.
