page 973 – careful deliberate procedure
I don’t feel anywhere near as bad as I usually do when I have to resort to a late, half-finished pages… mostly because I’m too busy just feeling bad in general. I dunno what happened, but my stomach started feeling GROSS Thursday afternoon, and just got worse later into the night. Even though I had the whole page inked and scanned well before midnight, I just couldn’t physically keep working on it, and I haven’t exactly made stunning progress since I finally rolled out of bed. And seeing as how actually finishing this will require MASSIVE time consuming piles of color and lighting effects in that bottom panel, I figured I’d better go ahead and post SOMETHING tide people over during the wait (especially if that wait is prolonged by any more unexpected trips to bed or the bathroom)
Well, at least there’s a new Voting Incentive already that’s back to the Vashti series (and speaking of Incentives, don’t forget that the Bonus Incentive Voting Thing actually has new stuff again)
EDIT: WOW It’s a good thing I went ahead and posted the rough draft when I did, huh? I mean, I feared it’d take a while, but even I didn’t think it’d be THAT slow going. Well, at least there’s some cool red glowies now. We haven’t had enough red in the comic lately. Lots of blue and purple and green, but not enough red.
(Historical Notes: This whole stretch of laser beam effects were an important stepping stone to learning how to do a lot of this stuff… but they are never the less EARLY steps, and stuff I can’t really fix in post, either.)
@ Comic: The ship was moving SIGNIFICANTLY faster than Trigger thought, or else he would have just given the Capn one button.
That, or he was having too much fun and got carried away.
Or both, they’re not mutually exclusive.
