page 833 – break off into your small groups
What? You think that, after all that time Layla spent teasing him over his alleged monster girl fetish, that Ichabod won’t remember that new way he found to aggravate her?
So, It’s kind of a miracle that this page turned out as well as it did, seeing as how I’m still slogging through a massive pile of unfinished Conventional Wisdom pages at the moment… and it’s ABSOLUTELY a miracle that, despite that, NEW VOTING INCENTIVES ARE FINALLY BACK! Yep! The ever expanding epic of Tabitha putting other Far Out There characters into unexpected costumes enters its next phase!
EDIT: Okay, I really super hate to do this, but I gotta push the update back a day. The Conventional Wisdom update is ALMOST ready, but, well… at this point, I’m so behind schedule that even if I TRIED to get a page done Tuesday, it’d be nearly Wednesday by the time it was done anyway. If I just go ahead and push things back a day, everything will be less rushed, and I’ll have time to do a new Voting Incentive. Also, Friday’s page SHOULD still be on schedule. Sorry for the delay! Be sure to go read the REALLY FRICKIN’ HUGE Animazement update once it’s up!
(Historical Notes: …and here it is in October 2020, and I’m scrambling to finish re-editing these comics AND work on the new Halloween page AND get a head start on the Christmas comics AAAAND keep the Patreon stuff on an actual schedule again. Big Conventional Wisdom updates are about the only thing I’m NOT doing right now.)
Layla doesn’t want a little boy harem. Hell, I don’t think that she even wants a harem. One husband with enough money to own a few dozen planets twice or thrice over would be enough for her. And that husband would probably soon be an ex-husband, once she can get the more profitable half his wealth & property from going ahead with some divorce proceedings.
See, that’s one of those things where Layla herself doesn’t really know what she wants. …I mean, the husband bit, not the boy harem bit. She’d probably SAY something like this to prove how ruthless she is, only to then dump the guy without getting a cent out of him the second he failed to show her the same level of respect her Dad showed her Mom.
It’s one of the complicated things about Layla. See, I feel like she COULD get into a relationship that ends in her desired way, so long as the guy in question is respectful enough of her and those she likes that she can stand to be around him, and yet evil and/or incompetent enough in his actions outside of that meant that she had no shame in taking all his money. But that’s a LOT of hoops for someone to jump through just so that Layla can scam them. And most people who would jump through them are those who have made significant profits scamming others.
I think the ultimate problem is that Layla is in denial of how much she wants ACTUAL relationships in her life. The whole “faking it to scam others” thing only really works if you’re detached enough to not care about the other person. Obviously, that’s an easier state of mind to be in if you think the other guy has it coming, but even knowing that only helps so much if deep down you really do want the thing you’re ‘only pretending” to be into. That’s why her emotions keep running away with her.
