page 707 – Idiot
Okay, if you’re reading this, then you’re also seeing a comic that’s obviously unfinished. Believe it or not, the problem actually ISN’T related to Katsucon and Conventional Wisdom for once. This time, the weather’s the problem, there’s supposed to be a big winter storm tonight. Now, The South has made a fine art out of overreacting over winter weather, but it IS possible that that power could get knocked out for a while. So, just in case, I went ahead and posted the half-finished version ahead of time. One way or another, I’ll replace it with the polished, colored version as soon as I can.
EDIT: Well, this is a little embarrassing. The power wasn’t knocked out down here, but I sure was. We can definitely blame Katsucon for that one, though.
(Historical Notes: The irony here is that the rough version was probably a lot easier to make sense of than the final version with all those stock images of fire pasted in. I can’t remember how much Past Me complains about it in future pages, but I did NOT know what I was doing here, and a LOOOOOOOT of upcoming pages have the line art getting lost in backgrounds/effects. Like, seriously, actually seeing Trigger in the bottom panel felt like Where’s Waldo, he was so hidden in all the squiggly fire details. I’ve tried to do what I can to bring out the important stuff a little more in the re-editing process, but there’s only so much I CAN do with the material provided.)
Seeing Stilez in panel 2 was a surprise to me. I didn’t remember her being in this page, and I may have only ever seen the completed version.
Yeah, not only did I lighten up the effects on her, but I also turned the sound effects & line art from black to white. I think that does even more to draw attention to the fact that she’s there.
And then everyone suffocated, because THAT much fire in an enclosed interior space, even one that large, would pretty much suck up all the O2 almost instantly….
…not to nitpick or anything….
Um… it’s futuristic space fire. Totally different from modern day fire. 😀
Ah, so the robots utilize monopropellants/hypergolic fuels i.e. hydrazine, monomethylhydrazine, unsymmetrical dimethylhydrazine, or a similar futuristic variant thereof that are capable of combustion in the absence of an oxygen environment and therefore would not need to consume the breathable oxygen from the surropundings. Of course! I should have realized that you had planned for them to include that design feature all along, and that’s why you depicted it that way. I am ashamed for having doubted you.
