page 587 – device not found
It’s a little thing, but I’m quite pleased with how the innards of the spiky thing turned out. Granted, it’s hardly the most elaborate piece of artwork I’ve ever done, and it makes no sense if you think about them for more than a second (“So, it’s a solid mass of technology? Then… where was the GIANT DISRUPTOR CANNON before it shot out?”) but I still kinda like the feel of it.
…and now WE ALL HAVE TO THEORIZE WHAT’S UP WITH THE MYSTERIOUS MISSING PIECE! (also, free points to whoever can identify the obscure, nerdy reference in this page)

To answer your author-question of where the giant disruptor cannon was – clearly shortly after burning out it got sucked back into the device in its folded-up compact form and that’s why the device we see now appears to be a solid mass of technology. We know this for certain, because in a couple strips, we see them gathered around the device and the giant disruptor cannon is NOWHERE TO BE SEEN. It certainly is NOT because you forgot to draw the burned out disruptor cannon attached to the device a couple strips from now. Nope. Definitely not that.
