page 558 – techtechtechtechtech
So… THIS took a while, didn’t it? Sorry it took so long, but I had another one of those inspiration meets stupidity moments where I up and changed the page at the last minute. Whenever that happens, “The Last Minute” ends up being many, many hours away from when the page actually gets finished.
Originally, this page was almost entirely technobabble, and that’s just not a good idea. I mean, I was literally raised on Star Trek, so I really don’t mind pseudo-scientific jargon. I just accept it as the way future people talk and let it sweep me up in the illusion that these people know what they’re doing. But even I know there needs to be some actual plot at the end of it all, hence the rewrite.
But hey, it means we get a reminder that Trigger’s still in this comic, so that turned out well (and for you Nitpickers out there, the reason the usually tech-savvy Trigger is so out of his depth is because he’s all about PRACTICAL technology, not the Mad Science Tabitha’s all about)
Oh, and there’s a new Voting Incentive too, in which all the words actually MEAN something.
(Historical Notes: Okay, this page didn’t originally have any extra notes from Present Me, but I only just now realized that Layla’s speech bubble in the first panel is totally empty. I have absolutely no idea what she was supposed to be saying there, nor can I begin to imagine why I didn’t notice the next was missing when I posted it. And I went back and checked, this isn’t just an error in my copy of this page, the dialog is missing on the old Smackjeeves version as well. WEIRD.)
I just skipped right past that wall of text, then I forced myself to go back and read it. Still no reason not to skip right past it. Ugh. TL;DR
I should have at LEAST made the font bigger, so that it’d be easier to just glance over
Layman’s terms: she’s gonna shoot it.
…and by “layman’s” we of course mean “correct”
