Page 197 – Why “Show Your Work” really WAS important
…I bet Trigger had one of those kits when he was younger.
Yes, yes, I realize it’s ANOTHER page of people standing around talking, but this page killed, like 7 or 8 birds with one stone. It explained why ANYONE would invite Dr. Caligari to something (he USED to have a reputation), it excuses how he could pull off something like this without Tabitha knowing, it finally gives Tabitha and Skye a chance to officially “meet” (they’ve only had, like, two lines with each other before now), and it helps justify sending some main characters off on a dangerous mission!
That last one really bugged me when I started writing this whole story arc. I mean, all dramatic logic says that all or most of the main characters need to be the ones to run off an save the day, but ACTUAL logic insisted that it’d be really crazy for a bunch of guests (and kids, at that) to take it upon themselves to fix everything. Thus, we’ve had to sit through page after page of increasingly improbable events to finally set up the GOOD part.
…so I guess I’d better hurry up and finish writing that part, huh?
