page 1286 – OH YEAH
So that’s TWO big, scary characters talked down by their tiny voices of reason. I feel like there’s a trend developing here.
Also, if you’re looking at this page and don’t already know what Stilez’s silhouette looks like AND understand that she’s strong enough to break through things, that bottom panel probably looks like the other characters are trapped inside of some kind of malformed cactus. …or maybe one of those totally illegible death metal band logos. The point is, the whole “looking through a Stilez-shaped hole” gag was a very last minute addition. Originally, we were actually going to see Stilez & Tax depart on-screen, but that seemed a little too… plain. Looking at the end result, though, I do wish I’d given myself a bit more time to experiment with the art and make it a bit clearer what’s going on. Like, I should have copy/pasted a second layer of the Stilez outline underneath the first one and used that to create a sense of thickness and depth in the wall layer. The slight blur on the characters behind it does help a bit in terms of adding some perspective, but it’s nowhere near obvious enough that they’re looking through a broken wall and not some kind of… inverted brain thinggie. But, of course, trying to change that would require basically re-building that whole panel from scratch… and I kinda want to go to bed…
EDIT: Okay, I talked myself into it. I spent the past several hours re-doing the Stilez-debris to add an extra bit of depth to the wall, and it definitely did help. So yeah, I just spent a good chunk of the day adding content to a page that was “already finished” yesterday. I’m basically a AAA video game developer at this point.
8/24 EDIT: AAAAAAAAAaaaaaaaand new TWC voting incentive is up!
din [ din ] from dictionary.com
noun
–a loud, confused noise; a continued loud or tumultuous sound; noisy clamor.
verb (used with object), din·ning.
–to assail with din.
–to sound or utter with clamor or persistent repetition.
So, the ‘dinning hall’ would be the room where everybody is shouting loudly at each other – and it is! 😀
The Cap’n really prepares well, there’s a dedicated named room in the ship for every thing that might happen! If only they’d chosen the dining hall instead, they might have had a nice, peaceful, relaxing meal 🙂
Out of curiosity Blitz, is the fanart page ever coming back?
Holy crap, I totally forgot that wasn’t done yet. I mean, I’ve still got ’em all saved!
Vote Incentive:
Considering that Madam Ventricle’s eyepatch is on the other side than it usually is, I’m pretty sure it’s either unrelated to her current wearing of an eyepatch or is actually some kind of AR interface of some sort.
perhaps she experimented with some sort of device that turns a person into a mirror image of themselves?
I wonder how many times I’ve screwed that detail up? I know it’s happened before (I think I went back and fixed a few of them during the re-posting process, but it can’t have been all of them) I’m pretty sure, at this point, it HAS to turn out to be some kind of weird explanation like that just to explain the lack of continuity.
Perhaps there is nothing wrong with either of her eyes, and she simply wants to keep one eye always in darkness so if she goes below decks on a ship she doesn’t have to wait for them to adjust. One never knows when an opportunity for piracy might turn up after all.
