page 1175 – Hey, no shipping
*whew* Well THAT brought back some memories! In case you missed yesterday’s page… there was an extra page yesterday. It’s no huge production, but it was still enough that the extra work combined with Real Life AGAIN had me running way behind schedule on this update. And this time, I wound up pulling a good, old-fashioned all-nighter; complete with legit “nodding off at my desk” level of exhaustion. I finally managed to get the art for the Voting Incentive done at around 6am, but by that point I didn’t trust myself to write the commentary and set up the update without getting some sleep first. So here we are!
But nobody cares about that. The important thing is that I finally got a chance to do a page of just Mariska and Marshall interacting, so we can start getting a better feel for how their relationship works. And speaking of relationships, SHIP TEASE #89023548 COMMENCE!
Oh, and in case you couldn’t pick up on it from what I was just saying earlier, there’s a new Voting Incentive where I got waaaaaaay too wrapped up in some artsy details. That’s half the point of these things: a testing ground where I can experiment with complicated new art techniques and not worry if I horrendously botch them… which didn’t happen here. The new trick I was trying took a lot longer than expected, but I think the end result turned out VERY nicely.
Mariska, you are the WORST person to give out dating advice, probably in this UNIVERSE. Why are you trying to sabotage your protégé’s romantic future?
I came a LOT closer than I should have to writing a reply that’s basically just the punch line of the next page.
Is it that she wants to live vicariously through the romance of her apprentice, since her own relationships end in explosions at the best of times?
No, but now that you’ve said that, I’ve totally gotta have somebody suggest it at some point 😀
If you can fit it in, you may want to do it right after someone, possibly Mariska herself, calls Trigger a Cinnamon Bun.
I really SHOULD do a whole page that’s just jam-packed full of all these references.
According to google, tomorrow is Tax day. I wonder if we’ll be seeing some special Tax art for this occasion
I considered it, but couldn’t come up with an idea that really took advantage of the opportunity. 🙁
Seems like, ironically, Gright would be a more appropriate character to celebrate that particular special occasion than Tax anyway.
