…I’m a real jerk. It would have been SO much better to have a nice, sweet, ACTUAL Mother’s Day page where Bridget and Alphonse do something nice for Tabitha, BUT NO. I had to do drudge up this bit of unpleasantness to inflict on Layla again. Yeesh.

On a more serious note, this DOES touch on something that’s been bothering me lately. The more I think about it, the less I like how quickly Layla got over having the company taken away and being kicked out of her home. Oh sure, she’s been cranky about it ever since, but in those early pages she shakes it off FAST. At the time, I thought it was best to keep things light and funny and tried to downplay the angst, but I think I over did it. Looking back now, it seems really out of character for Layla to just leap into coning Ichabod so soon (*GASP* A webcomic where the early pages aren’t quite right? Now I’ve seen EVERYTHING!)

Well, anyway, Happy Mother’s Day! Tune in again Tuesday for your next regularly scheduled page!

(Historical Notes: Eventually, I’d wind up retconning this whole sequence of events entirely.  As it currently stands, and is stated elsewhere, Layla actually stormed out of her own accord as the latest in a long string of disagreements and miscommunications with a relatively more sympathetic Pattie.  Layla still FEELS like this is what happened, though.)
