Page 241 – Subtle?
You know, I’d forgotten just how tricky drawing Dr. Vanderslice can be. That hair must be some kind of living, amorphic entity, because it moves around of its own free will every panel.
So, this page frustrates me, because we’re only seeing the top third of what I’d intended. See, we’re obviously going to have Layla badgering the Doc to show the others his secret kitty-brain machine, I doubt that’s much of a spoiler (if it WAS, well… sorry!) However, I really wanted to already be at that point NOW, rather than sometime next week. After all, they got to this freaking room three weeks ago, we should be at the next plot point already. Sadly, said Layla badgering will involve a lot of big speech bubbles, and I’m trying hard to keep text from swallowing up whole pages, like in the old days. Thus, I had to bump all this set up over to a page of its own. But really, I promise that forward momentum will be regained soon. REALLY.

It’s really funny when a comic rant references “the old days” and then you see it 16 years later and wonder why time. WHY TIME.
Then you also consider the fact that this comic text is page 241, referencing page 4, when the latest page (at time of writing) is page 1439.
What’s missing here is a second author comment from when he reposted, lampshading how old the previous reference to the old days was, and that comment would already be 6 years old!
We’ll just have to remember to come back and reply to these comments in another decade or two, lamenting how, in the foolishness of our youth, we actually thought a mere 16 years was a long time.
…and in another two decades, we might have actually started a whole new plot arc!
