page 1381 – It’s Better You Don’t See The Answer
The real answer —that I wanted to stick these two into clothes that would be a little easier for me to draw before… CERTAIN FUTURE EVENTS STARTED— would simply be too much for him to comprehend.
Anyway, I can’t complain about anything crazy happening around the house this week… but I still DID get totally caught off guard by the whole end-of-the-month Patreon deadline this time around, so I’m still feeling really worn out over SOMETHING. In other words, situation normal. Also, be sure to check back Friday for the new TWC Voting Incentive!

@ Avi: That wasn’t part of your plan? Because it sounds like something you would decide would help, say… because you had a full bottle of shampoo and decided to empty it using the pump because it wasn’t opening for you to just pour it out. And that means that you had to go into the showers, which meant that you had to have a shower, that means you had needed an excuse to need a shower, and so you decided to get into a food-fight with Marshall as an excuse to be messy. And as you were carrying a wriggly ball of compressed carbonated cherry algae to throw at Marshall as soon as you found him, it ruptured and covered you both in the stuff. That makes sense.
Of course, that can no longer be the case, as Avi is asking about how they got to this point. So it has to be something seemingly unrelated and not necessarily his direct fault (indirect fault is fine). So, instead, I will have to suggest that they couldn’t find any shampoo bottles on the ship at all, as the ship supplies it’s shampoo in a similar manner to the vending machines and it’s all hidden behind the walls.
On their quest to find a Shampoo Bottle that likely only exists either inside of the walls or in their own bags (they were hoping to find one that doesn’t contain shampoo costing the equivalent of $1,000 a bottle. Not because of the price, but because then one of them would have to get rid of have THEIR shampoo, and that’s just unacceptable. Especially since the other three are keeping THEIR shampoo). They came across a pile of stuff, and started sorting through it. Avi picking things up, and handing them to Lynne to discard to ensure they didn’t get mixed up in the original pile. One of the first things Avi handed over was a box of “Instant Algae”, which Lynne carelessly threw into a nearby open large box. Which just so happened to be a Carbonated Cherry Drink Vending Machine that was still about half-full from something Stillez did (face down, of course, so neither of the kids knew about the contents apart from the container being a redish-pink). That made the Carbonated Cherry Algae, but is not responsible for them being drenched in the stuff. No THAT is because of a chemical reaction with a few other random items thrown in there, like a salt-shaker, a spare “Blip in a box” (that didn’t work properly due to the Carbonated Cherry Algae” preventing it from activating) and a surprisingly sharp rock that tore open the “Blip in a box” while mixing it with the Carbonated Cherry Algae and insufficient Pure Sodium in a way that caused an explosion of Carbonated Cherry Algae. Thus it’s indirectly Avi’s Fault and directly Lynne’s fault. :p
This raises a good question, actually. HAVE we actually seen a bottle of shampoo on this ship at any point? Off the top of my head, I actually can’t recall… which is interesting, considering how much long hair the cast of this comic actually has.
As I said, the ship uses a system akin to what it does for the Vending Machines for all of it’s basic necessities. All of the soap outside of the kitchen on the ship is liquid soap (excusing a few purposefully owned bars by individual’s for personal use and the Cap’n for specific emergency and truck-stop emergency fixes), and when it’s nearly empty the container is automatically replaced. Same with the Shampoo and Conditioner.
…Trigger washed or conditioned his hair with soap enough times at the beginning that he now starts washing himself by purposefully soaping up his hair, using that to clean his body, and then washing out the soap with the shampoo and conditioner. Partially because it is the easiest way to clean his back, but mostly because he likes the scent that the soap gives, even if it is mostly removed by the shampoo and conditioner. If he doesn’t like the scent of the next soap, he’ll stop doing it.
Yes, I AM making up headcannon and telling it to you, Blitz, in hopes it is approved as potentially cannon. It was too funny an idea not to.
