First off, thanks to the comment section in the previous comic for your invaluable help in writing this one.
Second, HOLY CRAP I’M GLAD I GOT A HEAD START ON THIS BEFORE LEAVING FOR THE CONVENTION. This is another deliberately simplified page, designed to be finished quickly, and I STILL don’t think I would have had it in me to get even something as simple as this drawn from scratch. I came back from Otakon TIRED. But the good news it, that’s almost certainly the only other con I’ll be going to this year… and even if something miraculously changes, it definitely won’t involve as much travel as this one did. So HOPEFULLY my work flow won’t end up getting disrupted again the way it has been this summer. Hopefully. But yeah, I’m gonna go ahead and post this now, then go straight to bed, because MAN my feet still hurt.

The mouth on that woman! For shame Mariska, for shame. Just because the paingobbler has moved on from physical pain to metaphorical, and it’s devouring your unpleasant but still important memories in a way that’s deeply uncomfortable but not technically painful, doesn’t excuse saying THAT.
Looking at the comments on the last page, I’m going to say that it’s mostly Ed8’s contribution. He’s the one who brought up the Migraine Ninja Kitty Pain Gobblers, after all.
At most my accusation that Marshall diligently researching any and all products he buys to ensure he gets the best product is “Proper Nitpicker Behavior” caused Blitz to realize that their reply to Ed8 was backwards. Then again, Blitz might have been outright lying in their reply to Ed8 in order to get a laugh when this page was posted. Which is what I assume happened.
I also wish to comment that this is the first time we’ve EVER heard of Can Of Beard having any use whatsoever. I wonder what else it can help with?
Originally, May’s line was going to have “I hear that helps!” at the end, implying that this was more of a “folk remedy” and something outside of a Can of Beard’s normal use. I’m actually not sure what possessed me to cut that part. Sometimes, when I’m sleepy, I make strange decisions.
Maybe she’s not expecting it to help at all but just thinks it would be even more entertaining with a can of beard poured on it?
Or, perhaps she’s referencing the recent trendy advertising campaign for Can of Beard that has that as its slogan? (Got to find some way to convince people to use it even if they don’t know what it’s for, right?) Which will appear in a background TV commercial or billboard in a strip 5 years from now just to see if anyone remembers.
Now we just need some random people to walk by, see the situation, and completely independently all suggest pouring a Can of Beard on it.

@ Blitz: I don’t think that the “I hear that helps” would have affected my opinion. May’s a Nitpicker in Training, Folk Remedies recommended by Nitpickers in FOT tend to be more successful than treatments recommended by the doctors. Unless it requires surgery, but Nitpickers want to avoid doing surgery at every chance they get.
I specified “FOT” to ensure that I was clearly stating it happening in this story SPECIFICALLY, and NOT in REAL LIFE.
Anyway, without the “I hear that helps”, we can also come up with other explanations. Such as covering the Paingobbler with what is presumably hair from the Can Of Beard, at least nobody else needs to look at the Paingobbler. Which turns May’s suggestion from “Being Helpful” to “Being Bratty”.
