page 1186 – truly a fate worse than death
Not gonna lie, I absolutely “wrote” this page by drawing a bunch of silly pictures of May being hyper, then made up dialog that seemed to justify what I’d already drawn. It’s not the best creative strategy for long-term storytelling, but it absolutely worked a treat here. Those bottom two panels some of the most fun I’ve had drawing Far Out There in a while.
But speaking of writing, I really DID want to take an opportunity to at least briefly remind everyone what the story was BEFORE all these new characters showed up. After all, even if you ignore the whole hiatus, you’d STILL have a really, really long time since the plan to deal with Stilez was first mentioned. Also, I wanted to take an opportunity to remind everybody about the whole “colonizing” aspect of the big ol’ ship, because I am ABSOLUTELY CERTAIN everyone would have forgot the brief mentions of that particular fact if I didn’t bring it back up.
Last up, there’s another TWC Voting Incentive up right now, and there’s GOING to be a new Patreon comic in a day or so. It was supposed to have already gone up over the weekend, but another project sprang up unexpectedly and threw everything else into limbo for the next week or so. Story of my life, right?
“WITH wars and traffic accidents” isn’t very Gamera of you. 😉
Oh crap! I’ma go fix that before an angry Kenny or two starts calling me out!
May’s this optimistic? She may have chosen the wrong profession. She might want to change to one where her optimism could be beneficial, instead of harmful. A Hospital Emergency Ward would be a better fit for her. And, if it wasn’t due to the limitations of what Blitz is willing to draw, she’d probably see less deaths working there, too.
I’ll just point out that, from what we’ve seen of Mariska, May’s not the only one making questionable life choices in this regard.
Mariska’s time for changing to another industry of highly technical skill is likely either passed or is near at it’s limits, due to her being an full grown adult, while May can still do so without any issues or real challenges, due to being a child. Also, Mariska could have joined the industry for the same reason as Ichabod (inability to prevent themselves from attempting to nit-pick anything and everything), while May seems to have joined the Nit Picking Industry due to being a fan of nit-pickers and it being a good way to “stalk without stalking” those she basically hero worships.
May lives in a reality not even adjacent to the one she physically resides in, doesn’t she?
She rejects our reality and substitutes her own
