Clearly, the Caligaris’ home is the most festive and lushly decorated we’ve seen yet. I started to put in something like a single, out-of-place string of lights in the middle of the creepy filth… but then I thought it’d be funnier if Tabitha and the kids were the only bright, out of place bit of color. I’m still not sure if it was actually the right call, but at least it meant I got the page done before noon, and that’s something, right? (I’d really, seriously hoped to actually have the next few days worth of stuff already finished by this point, and while the last two Far Out There pages aren’t done yet, at least I finally, FINALLY have all the Conventional Wisdom Anime Weekend Atlanta pages done!)

Oh, and fun fact of the day: those creepy, rusty, grime-covered walls are actually textures from the Silent Hill games. So, maybe not so much “fun” fact as “extremely morbid” fact.

(Historical Notes: That last bit will sound really confusing to anyone only seeing the current version of this page.  See, the longer I had to think about it, the more I realized that the rusty red tone of the original was just wrong.  For one thing, it actively worked against the “only bit of color” intention of the Caligaris, but it also just didn’t fit the other glimpses we’ve seen of their home.  Maybe I’m warped by all the grayscale pages, but I’m just used to thinking of their place as being really cold and gray instead of meaty, rusty red.  So I pulled some of the most extensive re-editing I’ve done yet to desaturate and shift the hue of most of the page… and WOW I like it a lot better now.  Just, on every single level, I think it’s more successful than the version that was on SmackJeeves.  IT’S A MONTH AFTER CHRISTMAS MIRACLE!)
