Far Out There

(Historical Notes: …aaand we’re back to pages I have complaints about.  The photocollage isn’t TERRIBLE, but it’s nowhere near as decent as some of the previous pages.  That spot where the wreath overlaps with the screen is particularly painful to look at.  Still, that’s not the part that annoys me the most.  No, what I really don’t like is how the TV gag overshadows the REAL joke of the page, Avatar having an assortment of Christmas-themed air fresheners.  It’s been established that she can still smell stuff even if she can’t consume them, so this is exactly the sort of thing Avatar WOULD have while relaxing on holiday vacation.  This page should have focused on Avatar opening up a conspicuously fancy pack of Christmas air fresheners like it’s a box of chocolates, with some even more fanciful scents like Entire Christmas Dinner.  The news should have just been a background gag, not dominating the whole page.  I mean, yeah, recurring joke of the tree rampage is a nice touch and all, but even that would probably have been better served by a bit more subtlety.)
