page 706 – The Perfect Alibi
Exposition exposition exposition… and you know the scary part? This could easily have been LONGER. Without really meaning to, I slipped a lot of dialog intended for this page into last Friday’s, and that lead to this page pretty much absorbing NEXT Friday’s intended page into itself. And thus, the delicate balance of webcomics maintains itself.
Not sure how I can spin the utter lack of backgrounds in this page as anything other than my being in a hurry to get the page finished, though.
Speaking of which, the next week or so is gonna be a little usual around here, because I’ve got yet ANOTHER convention around the corner. You guys should know the drill by now, as far as Voting Incentives go anyway. We’ve got a new one for today, but there definitely won’t be one Friday, and possibly next Tuesday, depending on how Conventional Wisdom’s doing. But that’s not ALL that’s gonna be out of the ordinary this weekend. For one thing, Saturday’s Valentine’s Day, and I’ll have a special extra page for that. And Friday’s page won’t quite be the usual either, let’s see who can figure out why!
(Historical Notes: I’ve gushed several times over how please I am with the way Astrid turned out, and I’ve complained a few times about how much I didn’t like original model Disonar, but now we’re finally reaching the point where I actually start felling proud of how HE turned out, too, even if it is a direct reaction to her. I just love how many different levels of things are going on all at once in the dialog here.)
The interactions happening just in that last panel, there, is hilarious, in retrospect and when taken into context of the Historical Notes.
It really is amazing how haphazardly thrown-together plotlines can turn out better than ones I carefully work out ahead of time.
