Page 297 – As far as she knows, we just came home early!
…and that’s it. Sadly, our jolly band of zombies and “eccentric” scientists are exiting the plot for real this time. I really REALLY tried to think of a reason to keep in the action longer, but all the plot arcs I have to follow this one up were written before I knew how much fun any of these characters would be, so I didn’t try to include them. Trying to wedge them in at the last minute would be… inadvisable, as would ditching my plans and trying to dream up a new plot at the last minute. Thus, Bridget, Alphonse, and The Caligaris will have to be content with Ensemble Darkhorse status rather than being true Breakout Characters.
…not that we won’t still be seeing them in SOME form, mind you. I mean, look how often Stilez and Tax manage to pop up! You can rest assured that this merry bunch will soon be appearing in… OOPS! Can’t go telling you about your Christmas present too soon, now, can I?
One thing that kinda bugs me about how this conclusion is shaping up, though: that comment about “the police” is a reference to Skye and Tabitha’s plan to get a bunch of the mad scientists arrested. Yeah, remember that plot point? Of course you don’t! That’s ‘cos I hadn’t mentioned it in about a year! Originally, one of the undercover cops was going to actually turn up and be part of the big conclusion. Unfortunately, it gradually dawned on me that there was already too much stuff going on in this plot, so I let the police angle fall by the wayside (that character is still in the background of a few pages, though). Admittedly, it DOES sort of make sense that Tabitha would avoid the cops now that she knows the most deadly thing at that convention was brought by her own Dad, but still…
Oh, and in retrospect, I wish the first panel had been bigger. Look! It’s SKY! How long has it been since we saw the SKY in the comic?
(Historical Notes: Oh look, a mention of Tabitha’s Mom! I’m sure we’ll be be learning all there is to know about her VERY quickly, right?)
@ Author’s Comments: Well, when was the last time you updated that incentive? You know, the one that promises us that we’ll get to see a mother-daughter meeting? Because at time of posting, it’s still at the same place it was before you started moving here.
The entire site-move-hiatus is just a fiendish plot by Blitz to keep us in suspense over the big Tabitha’s-Mom-Reveal!!
(or Blitz doesn’t know yet either and he’s hoping he figures out what the deal is with tabitha’s mom before the site migration ends and he has to start posting incentives again??) 😀
Oh, believe you me, I know EXACTLY what’s going on there, for once. 🙂
It’d just be a real logistical nightmare to start posting new incentives to TWC while also re-posting older Incentives to the new gallery (or just not having ANYWHERE to put them yet), so I really want to spare my brain the strain of keeping all that straight.
That just makes it even more tormenting! knowing the information exists somewhere…but we can’t have it! 😉
…and, right before the big Tabitha’s Mom Reveal …cut to commercial break…
(if this were a tv show)
I can guarantee that that the “big reveal” at the end of the end of the Incentive series will raise FAR more questions than it answers.
…which I’m sure is totally comforting to hear 😀
Given FOT tradition, I would be disappointed if it didn’t raise more questions than it answered! 😀
Though the funny this is, I’m not kidding about having the whole thing planned out. It’s all written down, it’s just taking for-fricking-EVER to actually get any of it out in the open.
So long as we actually get to SEE Tabitha’s mother, and she’s not, say, always just off screen, underneath something, hidden around a corner, or a clone of Tabitha’s Father (or some other character), I’m probably going to be fine with the reveal.
I’m also expecting one of the questions to be “Wait, there’s a short path to Tabitha’s Mother that she’s taking to get back? Why didn’t she simply take that to get there in the first place?”
Well, I can DEFINITELY tell you that there isn’t a shortcut back. That’s the real punishment, having to make this long, tedious trip TWICE. (Don’t worry, we won’t actually have to sit through it)
