Oh look, Bridget, Alphonse, and Tabitha are sharing an adorable, heart-warming moment. In other news, water is wet, the Pope is Catholic, and the presence of bears in the woods leads to unsanitary conditions.

Something kind of interesting happened while I was drawing this page, though. See, Wednesday’s page of Conventional Wisdom was a major undertaking because it required me to draw some scenes from Death Note in Takeshi Obata’s style rather than my own. I pulled it off reasonably well, but it was a MAJOR challenge, especially the panel where I had to draw Light’s face in profile. Drawing a character from the side like that is my nemesis in ANY style, let alone one I’m not used to.

So, right after that page was done, I started drawing THIS one, which includes a shot of Dr. Vanderslice from the same angle. To my surprise, it turned out VERY well with minimal effort, and it took me a few seconds to realize why: I’d basically drawn it the same way as that Light profile! Guess I should really rip off other people’s art more often, huh?
