page 943 – as if it could be anything else
Dang it, I was SOOOO close to making it to this reveal without anybody guessing it! I mean, I’m sure every single person reading this comic figured out these plot threads were heading to the same point the second I introduced them, because OF COURSE THEY WOULD. Sill, I was all excited that nobody had actually said it out loud… but NOPE! You clever scamps managed to finally make the right guess IMMEDIATELY before the page that would confirm it. Well, at least I didn’t have to spend weeks awkwardly trying not to give away that the twist was spoiled this time. Your timing is getting better and better, gang!
Anyway, today’s Voting Incentive is nowhere near as elaborate as last Friday’s, but still a variation on the established theme.
Oh, and speaking of which: those Conventional Wisdom comics that helped make Friday’s update so late are almost done. They’re not actually online YET as I write this, but they’ll almost certainly be up by Wednesday, so I figured I’d go ahead and put in a preemptive plug, just to avoid the rush.
(Historical Notes: Here’s a fun alternate way this conversation could have gone, as suggested in the comments:
Mariska: “I’m not certain, but I’m 99% sure they’re headed to the planet Zorgan 7-b. That’s where all the evidence points”
Ichabod: Nope.
Mariska: Huh?
Ichabod: Nope.
Mariska: Why not?
Ichabod: Because that’s nowhere near Threiad.
Mariska: ????
Mariska: No, of course it’s not. What does that have to do with anything? There’s no evidence at all that they are going anywhere near Threiad.
Ichabod: They’re definitely headed to Threiad.
Mariska: That’s ridiculous! How could you possibly even know that?!
Ichabod: Just a hunch. *smiles smugly*)
@ Historical Notes: While that’s something us in the comments would come up with, honestly, it doesn’t have enough Ichabod Suffering for it to make it into this point in the comic. It could have happened earlier, and it could happen later, but not RIGHT NOW in the comic.
Yeah, I just like the idea of Ichabod becoming that pessimistically genre-savvy. And being right about it.
