This… this is some of the goofiest dialog I’ve written in a WHILE… and given what comic we’re talking about here, that’s saying something. Granted, it’s probably a lot funnier in my head, where all this lunacy is being spoken by professional announcer guys over stock 80s music, and the whole “faded title card/local commercial” effect actually turned out the way I intended. Also, it MIGHT help to know that I was in the middle of a Facebook conversation while writing this, and a few bits of that ended up in this page… which tells you about the kind of weird conversations I have.
Also also, it probably didn’t help that I got started on this page waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay later than anticipated due to today’s Voting Incentive. Actually, I’m kind of shocked that I’m posting this page as early as I am, given how late I was fiddling around with the Incentive. if I’d actually had to, you know, draw real character art instead of a bunch of MST3k silhouettes, I doubt I’d be getting anything online before noon. Which is my roundabout way of saying I’m really proud of today’s Voting Incentive, so be sure to go see it!
EDIT: Oh yeah, look! Something familiar in the last panel!
(Historical Notes: That Voting Incentive I’m bigging up so much is the one where Jenna’s standing in front of that scifi skyline… which I’m nowhere near as pleased with now, due to all the awkward perspective on the buildings. I think Past Me was too busy being impressed with the early experiments with shading. Also, should I have a tag for Point Me At The Shy’s Bug Boy, or should that be another Easter Egg for readers to find on their own?)
Ah, Tax. The ads are interesting, but the actual show is boring. Of course it’s like that.
She lasted 3 panels longer than I would have lasted before finding TV boring.
(Not withstanding that the show on in panel 4 actually would be interesting to watch, I hear that, as seems to usually be the case, the Manga was much better than the Anime version)
Apparently, when I was a wee little tyke, I was known to only sit still for the commercials and run out of the room as soon as the show came back on.
