page 874 – Quality Programing
Two pages up at midnight in a row! This one’s not quite as impressive as last time, since this is the “posted days earlier to cover a convention trip” page, but still! Sadly, I must report that I did NOT manage to get next Tuesday’s page drawn in advance this time, so it’s pretty much for certain that I won’t manage to keep the streak going a third page in a row.
Anyway, how’s this for a weird set of milestones: Jamilla’s appeared several times over the years, but this is the first time we’ve seen her name appear in the comic, whereas Parker’s NAME has popped up in several comics, but this is the first time we’ve actually had a face to connect to it.
(Historical Notes: This is another page where it weirds me out to see things being set up THIS far back, but still hadn’t really paid off by the hiatus. One of my major resolutions for Far Out There once we re-start is to REALLY get better about speeding things up. You’d better believe I’m gonna talk a lot about stalling over the next few years of pages, because it really does start to get bad around this stage.)
Blitz… we know you’re going to continue to stall, it’s one of your coping mechanisms for lack of sleep and forcing yourself to complete a comic page before sleeping. Honestly, just looking after yourself and sleeping would probably be healthier, but pages like these are often fun, too.
I’m sure I’ll get into it more on future pages, but a big part of why the comic started spinning its wheel so much was because I didn’t have a lot of the details of the next arc worked out yet. So I deliberately did lots of filler material to buy time while I worked that out… only to be so annoyed by how the filler stuff wasn’t going anywhere that it further sapped my enthusiasm to actually DO any of that working out. I’ve got most of the key stuff worked out now, though; and more importantly, I’ve had a whole year to get antsy and eager to actually draw new stuff again.
Perhaps, but it just sounds less convincing when someone says they commit to stop stalling…eventually…just not right now…Later…maybe next year…after I finish a bunch of other stuff…
😉
(*of course I realize that the “other stuff” has to, by definition, be completed before continuing, but it still sounds funny!)
Dude, no matter how funny it sounds to hear, I promise you it feels even weirder to SAY.
…and it will probably feel even weirder if you’re still saying it next December! 😀
(but that totally won’t happen, of course)
No, the fun thing will be when I’ve found something ELSE to say it about (like, one of the 50 side projects I wanna do)
Also: unfortunately, Parker Renoir’s Producer is correct.
(And so are Layla and Alphonse.)
