page 802 – makes everything better
I’m torn between being frustrated that this page is so late and amazed I even managed to get it done at all. But hey, I did warn you guys on Twitter that this one was gonna be laaaaaaaaate, didn’t I? I was super busy doing last minute MAGFest stuff, and didn’t even get STARTED drawing this page until, like, 4am. And the worst part is, I was actually CLOSE to getting it online at a reasonable time anyway… until I fell asleep at the computer again.
Speaking of which, I’ve got good news and bad news. The bad is, for the time being, new Voting Incentives are on hold. Obviously, things aren’t getting done as it is, so SOMETHING had to give, at least until MAGFest blows over. Regular updates should remain on schedule, and while the Patreon comics might have their schedules disrupted (HA!), everyone should still get what they paid for next week. The catgirl cosplay should resume… in two weeks, at the latest.
The GOOD news, after having just told you I can’t do extra material, is that there’s extra material coming out this weekend! Yes, there’ll be not one, but TWO bonus pages over the next two days, and they’re already drawn, so I don’t have to freak out about doing them. Sunday is Valentine’s Day, so I’ve got a little something for that, and tomorrow… gosh, I wonder what could have happened on February 13th, eight years ago, that would need commemorating…
(Oh, by the way, if you wanna see some of the stuff I’ve been scrambling over for MAGFest, check out what I just finished last night!)
(Historical Notes: Past Me’s ever-growing infatuation with slapping color gradients over the whole page instead of ACTUALLY coloring things in is making it harder and harder for Present Me to clean up some of this line art. Also, I like that someone asked if “Princess Rheiko’s Wacky Space Race” is a TV show or a Mario Kart-style video game. I honestly couldn’t say!)
Re: “Princess Rheiko’s Wacky Space Race” – who says it can’t be both? The one shown in the page background is probably a TV show, since afaik they don’t have any sort of video game console on the ship (though as I type this I realize “smart tvs” could have progressed to the point of not needing a separate console), but there could also be a video game of it.
In-universe, that’s entirely possible and honestly quite likely (“Interactive TV, filmed live before a studio audience!”). OUT-of-universe, you gotta keep in mind that this comic is being written by someone who never mentally progressed past the year 1993 and only barely understands what a “Smart TV” even is.
