page 762 – THAT’S how you threaten her
You know, when I first started penciling this page, I thought to myself “Oh good! It’ll just be a few panels of faces talking! This is that I’m good at! This page won’t be late at all!” …and then I fell asleep and suddenly it was this morning and nothing was done. DANG IT! (Also, I spent quite a lot of yesterday drawing a whole pile of other comics, that too)
And yes, this turn of events was VERY accurately predicted earlier this week. Ya’ll have the rhythm of this comic DOWN.
And last but not least, New Voting Incentive!
(Historical Notes: Okay, I made fun of Past Me for thinking that Stilez and Tax wouldn’t stick around for all that long, but you can see why I thought I’d run out of stuff for them to do when the first big plot line I could think of was “let’s give the cat a bath.”)
Sure, but it’s also one of the first things someone would want to do with someone who hasn’t bathed in probably 5 years join them in a confined space. Also, the difference between Stilez the Cute Kitty Girl that spawned the bath-the-cat storyline & Stilez the Avatar of Destruction that spawns some of the later storylines means that you get more diversity in potential than you would otherwise think. Particularly when you add the “distract Stilez so everyone else can do stuff” plots.
Yeah, once it became clear how long it was going to take to finally get Stilez & Tax off the ship again, it became VERY useful to have established some ground rules about how the other characters can manipulate her.
What on earth is that they’re watching on TV? Because it looks like a fight scene between Vashti and Rumiko Cherry – like they took the idea of “Battle Of The Bands” too seriously/literally. Or maybe we just don’t take it seriously enough and the Future’s version of the idea is actually more exciting? My money’s on Vashti.
I honestly suspect that it’s become a tradition for Battle of the Bands to incorporate actual combat after a television show tried to use the pun and got good ratings. And shortly thereafter it became expected for at least SOME combat to be in every Battle of the Bands, even if only token combat.
Page 760 originally had an actual title for whatever they’re watching being announced, but Stilez’s snoring obscured the text… which was on purpose, but now I can’t remember what it said.
From what I can read, it says (with asterix covering the letters I cannot guess, mostly because it’s a person’s name): *umiko Cherry’s Swing Choir Deathmatch Showdown. The only word that was mostly covered to the point it had to be guessed was Deathmatch, and it’s the only one I feel properly fits there that starts with “D circular-letter” and ends with “ch”.
Sounds good to me!
