page 751 – that didn’t take long
Hey, were you disappointed that Stilez and Tax just up and left all of a sudden? Did you wish they’d actually, you know, INTERACTED with the regular characters for a bit? Well, strap yourselves in, ‘cos we’re not done with these two yet!
Also, HEY WOW! An update right at midnight! It’s sad that the only thing that can get me to finish pages in advance is a roadtrip, but yeah, I had to do extra pages early to cover all the Otakon crap this weekend. And hey, that means prompt, automatic updates for Friday and next Tuesday too!
And best of all, I won’t even have to take a break from new Voting Incentives over the next week! Could I actually be getting on top of all this crap? Say it ain’t so!
(Historical Notes: I really don’t like the layout of this page, it’s waaaaaaay too busy. While the idea of the little mini-panel inside the big exterior shot is a nice idea, it covers up to much of the row of parked ships. The exterior shot should be one big panel up top to achieve the whole “vastness of space” feel, with the other panels down below. And as for the bottom… that should have been its own page. Ichabod should have seen the Cap’n at the end of the tube and gotten worried, and then the big reveal would be a whole page of its own. Such a big, surprising twist should NOT feel as cramped down in the bottom corner as it does here. What’s more, the fact that I was trying to get extra pages ready for a con trip would usually make me MORE prone to stretching material out across multiple pages. Why on earth did Past Me try and burn through too much material by cramming it all onto one page? Truly a mystery… though nowhere near as much of a mystery as how nobody could see Stilez before that point. She’s kind of hard to miss, after all, stealthy hiding isn’t really her thing.)
Yes, historical notes, this page would probably have worked better as two pages.
The top half, with the left part the top of the page and the right part the bottom of the page.
And the bottom half being the next page and probably with the same thing done to it. Or redraw differently with the more room. The page after this one could have the same content.
Like I’ve said elsewhere, I’ve forbidden myself from doing anything more than re-editing the existing art, because if I start trying to re-draw stuff from scratch, then this will just straight up never end.
The one thing I AM thinking about re-drawing is the opening arc, with all the stuff that’s been retconned. I’m thinking that could be a thing that goes on Patreon (once the Jenna comics are finally finished, of course) and then gets compiled as a book, while the original comics stay online as the “free version.”
