page 712 – even more color
And now, the inevitable flaw of any plan that involves Trigger charging in to the rescue. Granted, he DID get farther than most of us would under these circumstances, but still…
(and new Voting Incentive to boot!)
(Historical Notes: And that particular background is just plain ugly. WAY too dark. Anyway, there was some discussion about the apparent lack of genuine danger from these robots, and my conclusion was that a lot of them are too overpowered to actually be much use in real combat situations. Like, they’re so tricked out with extra weapons and “armor” that’s only there to look cool rather than take punishment, that they’re really only useful for standing around looking imposing. An actual threat, either a hostile force like Stilez or a saboteur like Trigger, would thus be able to neutralize them quite easily, so long as they didn’t get shot first… and since the robots were all told to shoot each other, that wasn’t really a problem. Granted, it wouldn’t have been a problem for Stilez anyway, but you know what I mean. Oh, and there’s one more problem I have that I’ll reserve for the next page…)
@ Historical Notes: Well, there’s also the fact that the really dangerous Robots would have either been on Stilez’s “More Fun To Play With” List, or the less dangerous Robot’s “Take Them Out First” list. And they’re in a place filled with all sorts of illegal weapons, which in FOT often means buggy weapons that are liable to kill their user and everyone around for 30 feet. The cast here could easily be on some of the most secure footing in the area right about now.
additional other options are:
–since these are arms dealers here to sell, robots are display models only
–they’re prototypes rolled out early for the con, most functions don’t work yet or aren’t turned on
–some are bodyguard robots, different from milspec combat bots, designed to take down unarmed or poorly armed humans only if they are attacking the protectee
–they’re combat bots, but not this type of combat. could be long range weapons, useless for close combat. could be intel gathering bots, spybots, etc. could be control/coordination bots.
so, likely a combination of all of the above factors
so, 98% of the bots are mostly worthless for this particular type of combat.
and, as Darius said, the remaining 2% were the ones Stilez killed first.
