page 691 – J’accuse
Wow, it’s been a while since a page was THIS late. Sorry guys, but the latest Conventional Wisdom gave me a lot more trouble than I expected (NC Comicon was a more mainstream comic/sci-fi event than the anime cons I’m used to, so I didn’t come away with as much material as I usually do) That’s also why, sadly, I don’t have a new Voting Incentive this time. The main comic was already taking too long, I just couldn’t crank out anything else today. Thankfully, there should be no more distractions for the next month or so, meaning I’ll be able to focus entirely on Far Out There stuff as we close out the year.
And speaking of Far Out There stuff, Whadaya make of THIS little turn of events? I expect to see plenty of Wild Mass Guessing down in the comments over the course of the weekend! (Oh, and check out the Killer Station of Deadly Doom references!)
(Historical Notes: Well, I guess I did a good job at playing coy, because while the completely accurate guess about what’s up with Astrid DID come up again in the comments for this one, it kind of got lost in the shuffle of a bunch of other theories even wilder than anything I could ever actually come up with. I’m still not sure if that’s something I should have been relieved or frustrated over.)
@ Historical Notes: You have trained your audience to provide Nitpicking, Explanations for Weird Sh*t, and Wild Mass Guessing for you. You shouldn’t be relieved OR frustrated over someone guessing Astrid’s purpose early and it being lost in the sea of guesses. No, you should be entertained by the sea of guesses.
Oh no, it’s not that. I’m just potentially frustrated over the fact that other people were coming up with ideas even WEIRDER than my own. 😀
Oh, that? Again, you have trained your audience to provide Nitpicking, Explanations for Weird Sh*t, and Wild Mass Guessing for you, in a story where Mad Science can be considered more reasonable than some of the explanations for the “sane” Tech. Us coming up with weirder ideas than the guy who needs to keep continuity and future potential plot developments in mind is not only reasonable, but to be expected.
They’ve grown beyond my power to control! CURSE MY HUBRIS!!!
…You tried to control us, Blitz? WHEN? All I remember is you encouraging us, praising us occasionally, and all in all trying to promote friendly chaos!
Well, if the subjects KNOW about the attempts at control, then the attempt isn’t very good, is it?
Actually, encouraging, praising, and promoting IS an attempt to control. Control isn’t just preventing people from doing stuff – if you try to intentionally manipulate them into doing more of the stuff you want them to do, that’s also an attempt to control.
Drat! It seems we have fallen right into Blitz’s dastardly plans after all!!!
