page 655 – Explain and Explain and-
So… I’m kind of reluctant to bring this up, because I’m afraid Layla will hear it through the barriers of reality and fictions and give me the evil eye… but Layla and Ichabod have a lot in common. They both want to figure things out. They both feel really proud of themselves when they figure something out. They both want to make sure everyone else KNOWS they figured it out. Really, they just like to hear themselves talk. And- uh… um… Uh oh… Well, there you go…
Anyway, I was on the fence about whether or not we even needed this page. It could be argued that we don’t really need to know HOW Layla figured all this stuff out, just that she did. But the thing is, Disonar is supposed to do this stuff all the freaking time. Presumably, he normally doesn’t spill the beans about everything the moment a person questions what’s up. We needed to see SOMETHING that would explain why he’s cracking this time. And you know what? We still don’t really need all the detective work exposition. Layla could just stare at him for several panels and he’d break. She is one intimidating young lady.
And for the exact opposite of imposing, there’s a New Voting Incentive!!!
(Historical Notes: Well, THIS is deeply frustrating. That bit where the first paragraph of commentary trails off was originally a link to an image, but I have NO idea what it was. The file name was one of those random jumbles of letters instead of whatever my original file name had been, and Past Me didn’t exactly provide a wealth of context to work from, so I’m completely clueless about what I was linking to. Well, okay, I’m GUESSING it was a link to a Voting Incentive, but I couldn’t begin to say which one, not off the top of my head at least. Heck, I actually went so far as to use the Wayback Machine to try and find a snapshot of whatever was on the other side of that link, but nothing doing. I’ve said it before, I’ll say it again: “The Internet Never Forgets” is a big fat lie.)
(HISTORICAL EDIT: NEVER MIND, THE INTERNET CAME THROUGH. THE LINK IS RESTORED.)
F O O L I S H H U M A N !
HOW DARE YOU DOUBT MY MEMORY!
IT WAS THIS PICTURE.
WHOA! Thank you, internet! I apologize for all my… wait, does this mean that SmackJeeves went through and automatically replaced the Photobucket addresses with SmackJeeves ones? …that don’t even work? WHY WOULD ANYONE EVEN BOTHER DOING THAT?!?!?!?!?
That does seem very odd. Then again, I wouldn’t put any sort of crazy behavior past either the Smackjeeves management or the Photobucket management, given their history of dubious decisions. Still, it worked at one time, and on the Wayback site it was already the Smackjeeves link shortly after posting, and I would think the only way it could be normally deleted would be for the creator to delete it.
The only logical conclusion is that you must have re-saved the Photobucket file onto Smackjeeves initially, then someone surreptitiously erased it from Photobucket, then erased your memory of having saved it there, as well as your memory of which file it was!! 😮
This “someone”, possibly a notorious organized crime figure, may have been possibly trying to cover up all evidence of her illegal 4th wall breaking activities. To which we now have to add illegal hacking and brainwashing. Clearly a very dangerous individual, indeed!
Layla breaking through the walls of fiction aside (cos really, that was just inevitable) it really is frustrating to try and make sense of because I can’t clearly remember WHEN SmackJeeves stopped letting people host non-comic images on free accounts. I’m pretty sure I remember it being allowed at SOME point, then having to switch over to a different host later, but I just can’t keep track of when it would have been.
That’s OK, some long-term memory loss is to be expected even after the Brain Slug has been removed.
