It can be hard to reconcile Trigger’s sweet, innocent nature with his love of sabotage and pranks.  I mean, not in a conceptual sense.  Human beings are complicated, contradictory beings who have conflicting impulses like that all the time.  But from a STORY standpoint, it can be hard to represent both sides of his personality in a way that makes narrative sense.  That’s why I felt compelled to step away from what OUGHT to be the main focus of everyone’s attention, the boys escaping, and focusing on the “things are broken” aspect long enough to get us to this little moment.  In Trigger’s mind, everything’s fine so long as it all went “according to plan.”  It’s only when something unexpected takes place that he feels bad about anyone being inconvenienced.

AND SPEAKING OF THINGS NOT GOING ACCORDING TO PLAN: First off, this page is a few hours late.  Second, the new TWC Voting Incentive isn’t done yet, and probably won’t be up until sometime this afternoon.  Third, and most annoying, there’s a big winter storm brewing here in the Southeast, the kind that frequently results in iced-over branches and downed power lines.  So there’s a very real possibility that the power may be out RIGHT around the time that I would normally be working on page 1401.  I’m gonna TRY to go ahead and get it finished early, right after I get the Voting Incentive up… except I was ALREADY planning to scramble and get extra comics done ahead of schedule due to my looming convention trip next month.  So we’ll just have to wait and see how this affects that.  Oh, and hopefully I won’t freeze to death to get crushed by a falling tree.  That’d be nice too.

EDIT:  Oh wow!  That didn’t take anywhere NEAR as long as I’d feared!  Fresh TWC Incentive is now up!  Now, let’s see if I can get the next comic finished this fast…
