Dang, and you thought page 9 was wordy! Ichabod is in rare form today. That being the case, I’ll spare you the pain of reading any more and shut up.

To nitpick Ichabod’s nitpicking, though, the flaw in his argument that Layla is unqualified to run the Syndicate because she has a conscience is that her dad had a conscience also, and he ran the place in a highly profitable fashion, apparently.
Or maybe Dad was just better at hiding it.
Yeah, the retconed version of this whole episode says that the main reason Ichabod was brought in at ALL is because Layla’s Dad was a profoundly sloppy businessman and they needed extra help sorting out the mess he left behind. I think the standard mode of operation was for him to constantly latch on to new cons and wacky ideas, the initial success of each new one paying for whatever long-term debts the older, abandoned ones racked up. So, in a way, not THAT different from a lot of legitimate corporations. (Also, Pattie probably helped straighten out a lot of things that went over Eric’s head)
