page 1384 – Is Everybody Caught Up Now?
Just doing a quick reminder on SEVERAL plot points, to keep certain things fresh in everyone’s minds before… well, you’ll see.
Actually, speaking of future events, although YOU’LL be seeing this on Tuesday morning, I’m already queuing the page up on Monday afternoon. As I alluded to last week, I’m TRYING to completely revamp my work flow and start getting stuff done in a more efficient manner. In fact, at the risk of jinxing everything (because since when has THAT ever happened around here?) I’m really TRYING to finally get Far Out There back on a twice-a-week update schedule again. Now, don’t get you hopes TOO high, because I’m also really trying to get this year’s Christmas comics done ahead of time as well, and it’s pretty unlikely I’ll be able to manage both at the same time. At BEST, I’m hoping to get a good backlog of rough drafts and penciled versions of pages built up, even if I’m still only FINISHING one page per week. Then, if I really can get a decent chunk of the Christmas stuff done before December, I’ll be able to use the break THAT gets me to go through and finish up those rough drafts and have a pile of material ready to go with the start of 2026. Heck, if I manage things properly over the next two months, I MIGHT even test the waters with an extra page or two in November, to try and pause the story on an especially appropriate point… although now I really AM in danger of jinxing things. But yeah, that’s what’s going on behind the scenes at the moment. And now you know.
And, of course, while I might not be ready to start posting extra regular comics twice a week, do remember to check back here for a fresh TWC Voting Incentive on Friday!
EDIT: New TWC Voting Incentive is up!

It’s actually impressive how well Mariska knows the boys. She knows nothing about what they’re doing, and yet knows exactly what they are trying to achieve.
She’s probably channeling a bit if Ichabod at this point, correctly assuming that whatever the worst thing they could realistically be up to has got to be it… though nobody tell HER we said that.
You think that’s the worst thing the boys could be getting up to? They’re on the same ship as STILLEZ, them getting back to the ship they stole isn’t even in the top 5.
Well, the worst thing that she’d still be AROUND to be unhappy about afterwards, at least.
Ichabod and Tax are on the ship. It’s probable that the only people likely to die from Stillez at the moment are the few idiots who upset her.
If Mariska gets mad enough maybe their sugary innards wind up spread across REGULAR space. But I guess that’s a risk the Squishyfupplebutter navy is willing to take…
Maybe the whole reason they’ve put so much effort into developing new forms of super-fast travel is so they can put plenty of distance between them and the people they annoy by being so over-dramatic?
At what point do the days spent charging and re-calibrating the drive between uses cancel out how super fast it is?
Varies entirely dependently on how far they travel, why they want to travel quickly, and how much progress the tech has.
At the moment the official travel time has been countered by the downtime of the ship’s repairs, as they likely could have arrived on the Cap’n’s Ship by now with a regular transport. On the other hand, that means that they wouldn’t have been on hand to observe the kids for at least a day or two, and the ship wouldn’t have been tested.
In my mind, the intended use is primarily long-range travel, shortening travel times from a starting length of a week-to-year to only a couple of subjective hours.
Well, the ship is still in it’s experimental stage. Really, they shouldn’t have been taking on passengers at all at this point, but Mariska was desperate enough to pay them REALLY well to take the thing on a shakedown cruse that just so happened to end up in the exact location she needed to get.
Also, the ultimate plan for these ships COULD be for them to operate as a whole fleet functioning in tandem. One ship makes a trip one way, then a second one that’s already waiting at the destination handles the next leg while the first one re-sets, and is there to take over for the NEXT ship to come by.
I don’t know if I’d trust this guy to fly me around in an experimental ship – he can’t even remember if the ship’s name has a “y” in it or not 😉
Oh Snap! I am shocked and astonished that my spellcheck doesn’t know to check for if the world “Pinkycuddles” is spelled correctly! Doesn’t that thing know ANYTHING? 😀
