page 1359 – just a casual bit of banter
Heeeeeey, what’s got two thumbs and has been doing so many pages lately that are just colored in via gradient layers that he forgot how long it takes to fully color in a page the normal way? THIS GUY! Yeah, my time management was thrown ALL off this weekend, and it didn’t register just how far behind schedule I actually was on this page until… about thirty minutes ago, when I decided to go ahead and slap the dialog balloons onto the line art and post that. Hopefully, I’ll have swapped out the finished, fully-edited version before most people even check here, but juuuuust in case I suddenly find myself in desperate need of sleep before it’s finished, I figured I’d better go ahead and post this version. See you again in however many hours!
But anyway, a quick heads up for the future: The next regular update day is April 1st, so there’s obviously going to be something a little… different next Tuesday. I sometimes try to squeeze an extra, regular comic in the following day when this sort of thing happens, but I’ve been struggling to keep up with the regular workload so much lately, that just seems like a bad idea. That, and I’m also gonna be scrambling to finish up some extra Patreon stuff before the end of the month (I’m still trying to finish up another Far Out There short story, and there’s still no telling if it’ll actually happen in time), so it’s not like I won’t be doing extra already. Well, at least there should still be a new TWC Voting Incentive on Friday, hopefully.
EDIT: Okay, that didn’t take QUITE as long as I’d feared! Finished page is up, obviously, though you can still see the original post HERE is you wish. Honestly, it’s not really that much of a difference. This time, I actually did get most of the line art edited before chickening out and adding the text.
3/28 EDIT: THERE! A bit late (shock of shocks) but the new TWC Voting Incentive is up!
@ Hiro: At least communicating with Blip is clearer than with Tax. With Blip you get something that might be aimed at you, but at least makes sense for them to know. With Tax, every now and again you run into a situation where it seems like she’s a fifth-dimensional existance that can perceive the full extent of not only the three physical dimensions, but also the fourth dimension of time.
If anything, it’s impressive that Hiro knows to ask who Blip is referring to at all. Honestly, Hiro’s the kind of kid who probably doesn’t fully understand what people are talking about most of the time. It’s a big part of why Avi has such an easy time talking him into stuff.
@ Blitz: Oh that’s easy to explain. The reason why is because Hiro feels like all Blips are a singular entity, regardless of the distance in time, space and anything else between them. To the point where he would be confused to see two Blips within touching range of each other.
As a direct result of that, Hiro has previously experienced situations where a Blip’s offhand comments that, retroactively, were seemingly confirmed to be directed towards him and the other kids and not anyone else. You could also spin this into a “Hiro has horrific foresight and actively avoids trying to analyse the past because it just makes him depressed. If forced to use it, however, Hiro’s hindsight analytical ability is honestly a little scary, comparable to some Nitpicker’s despite having half the information and a tenth of the general knowledge.
His biggest problem with this theoretical future character trait is that his analytical ability doesn’t carry over to analysing movement, and thus he can’t improve his form in anything. And his inability to fully comprehend what’s being currently discussed means that the Personal Trainers he works with have great difficulty in teaching him.
The correct answer to the Vote incentive is: https://fotgallery.faroutthere.com/comic/ichabod-the-art-museum-page-1/
and they really shouldn’t complain – Trandozian fashion gets a lot worse than that.
Hello, a bit random but lemme just say, thank you for making this comic!
Finally managed to track down and figure out what it was that I used to read as a teen, really enjoyed it back then, and it helped me learn and practice English too (non native).
Happy to see that the comic is still available and even still being worked on, had fears of it being lost forever, like many other media of that time period.
I know, right? It’ shocking to look back at the old crossover pages and realize just how many of those comics are straight up gone. Thankfully, I actually do have all of Far Out There saved on my end. Even the stuff that I haven’t gotten around to re-posting on this site yet (old TWC Voting Incentives, mostly) are still lurking on my hard drives, just waiting to be unleashed.
But yeah, glad to see you found it again!
