page 1339 – Information That’s Totally What You Asked
Haven’t done a good “Avatar Unloads A Bunch of Trivia” comic in a while, have we? Also, it’s too bad Ichabod wasn’t around to hear Tax say that.
Anyway, the original draft of this comic was basically an attempt to revisit the gag in page 1320… and by “revisit” I mean it was basically that exact same comic all over again. So I needed to revamp the whole thing, which included stretching things out into two pages with VERY little planing beforehand. This is why it’s always so important to make the time to doodle out rough drafts of a comic BEFORE the night you’re supposed to be drawing the final version, kiddies.
Also, I’m HOPING this week’s bonus TWC Voting Incentive will be up with no drama on Friday, but there’s going to be a bit of Real Life happening this week between now and then, so there’s the very slight possibility that I might end up taking longer to get it finished than usual. I dunno, hopefully I’m worrying about nothing, but we’ll see.
EDIT: Well, it’s KIND of late, but nowhere near as bad as I was afraid it’d be. New TWC Voting Incentive is up!
Tax is just dumb enough to keep herself endearing to Stilez, just smart enough to be able to manipulate Stilez, and just empathetic enough to ensure that she never attempts to over-manipulate Stilez (usually by ensuring she only does the manipulation AFTER Stilez has played around to Tax’s cheers).
I think the REAL question here is: how aware is Tax of the fact that she’s even doing any of this?
Exactly as aware as Tax needs to be for the plot & gags to work.
Vote incentive – I’m shocked. The bubble universe they created is just an ordinary normal sci-fi bubble universe. Everything isn’t made out of bubbles. They didn’t get turned into bubbles themselves nor trapped in bubbles. It’s not populated with a mob of sentient bubbles carrying torches and pitchforks chasing them yelling “Destroy the Heretic Solids!”
Well, I guess they were younger then and just getting started in Mad Science. Probably why they made the mistake of using a Nonicorn. (Some people used to call it a horse. Or a MLP.)
LOL when the page goes live in the Gallery later on, you’ll discover that the Alt Text Gag is basically exactly this 😀
I just had a thought, and had to return to this page to express it, as it’s relevant.
I think that Tax may be as mentally capable as Max from “Sam and Max, Freelance Police”. For those who don’t know, Max IS intelligent, but his method of problem solving looks suspiciously like Stillez’s (provide great physical trauma to the problem until it stops BEING a problem). Max’s main method of displaying his intelligence is through his words, not his actions.
Basically, during conversations with Sam, every now and again Max will have conversations where he either grasps or presents highly complex thoughts alongside an understanding and ability to utilize several large and precise words effortlessly. Sometimes it’s just Max saying “I want to crush X into a paste” in the most complex manner possible, though other times it’s a recap of details abbreviated into the most succinct & correct manner possible or something actually meaningful. All this while being someone who will stare at a fish tank in a daze, aggravating the water in the hopes of annoying the fish within.
With Tax, I feel like she’s the flip-side of Max. Where Max is a fluffy ball of harm and destruction, Tax is the protected puppy of playtimes. Where Max shows his stupidity through his actions, and intelligence through his words, Tax shows her stupidity through her words, and intelligence through her actions.
Sorry, once that comparison got into my head, I couldn’t help but share it.
