page 1282 – The Sound of Urk
Hey, the idea that Avi was agitating May on purpose was a good one, so why NOT use it? Especially when it provides an excuse for multiple characters to make funny faces?
…or, more to the point, when it’s the kind of page I can bash out really quickly? Yeah, I’m deep into pre-convention crunch mode here, not only trying to get this page done early enough to get a head start on the NEXT page before I leave, but also to get at least a bit more Patreon stuff finished before I go as well. Dang it, why does it seem like so many cons have to happen right around the END of the month? But yeah, in the time since I first queued up this page to go live, I already managed to get at least one more Far Out There thing posted to Patreon. I was gonna try to get a second one up, but then, I also need to sleep at SOME point, so I dunno. And hopefully by this time NEXT week, the dust will have settled enough for me to finally get some new TWC Voting Incentives happening again! And maybe also some more sleep then! Who knows?
Oh, and if you happen to be stumbling onto this comic because you picked up a random piece of paper laying around Otakon: Hi! Thanks for not immediately throwing the flyer away like most people would!
Also, as much as I despise telling people to follow me on social media (almost as much as I despise having to use it to promote things) I am going to get in the habit of spamming out links and such on Mastodon (“@BlitzTheComicGuy@mastodon.online”) and Threads (“FarOutThereComic”) …and I care too little about either to find out there’s a way for me to directly link to either of them from here. But hey, I’ve done the bare minimum necessary to count as self-promotion.
Avi may need to read the Evil Overlord list. I believe that plotting out loud while within earshot of those you are plotting against is a no no.
But Avi (in his delusion) is a Hero rather than an Evil Overlord, so that totally would not (in his delusion) apply to him – the Hero is allowed, even obligated, to soliloquize his heroic (in his delusion) intentions to everyone within earshot, including the villain, as exposition, with absolutely no negative effect at all! 😉
Doesn’t that face he’s making in the top panel look totally Heroic? 😀
And also, Avi just really likes to hear himself talk.
My assumption is that Avi isn’t allowed to read the Evil Overlord list, or even know that it exists. His family, and his friend’s families, touch upon too many criteria on that list on a daily, if not hourly, basis.
An interesting thought, that. There’s actually a BUNCH of different ways to interpret their parents’ extensive lengths to utterly shelter them. (And, conveniently for me, the fact that there’s four separate families in play here means I don’t necessarily have to stick with just one!)
No dinner with great steak can ever be a disaster. Even if the ship implodes – the steak was delicious! 😉
