Page 128 – A Glimpse Into The Past
Can it be? Is the mysterious Ichabod actually getting a bit of CHARACTER DEVELOPMENT? …not really, no. If anything, this makes him a little TOUGHER to figure out, since the free wheeling surroundings of his childhood CLEARLY didn’t rub off on him. Oh well.
Speaking of characters, the much talked about Far Out There Cameo Fest begins THIS FRIDAY! Will one of YOUR characters be wandering around in the background? Only if you sent them in! So DON’T DELAY! (as always, check the forums for more info)
(Historical Notes: Ichabod having random weird references to his past, which are intentionally difficult to piece together, went on to become a semi-recurring gag as the years went on. We don’t normally get to SEE any of this though, the nitty gritty details are typically left to the reader’s imagination, so this flashback here is a bit atypical. And obviously, this was before Ichabod met Mariska)
*Minor Spoilers about Ichabod that new readers, or those who have only read on this site so far, may not know*
@Historical Notes: Actually, this could be argued to be a reason why Ichabod is so obsessed with working. He emotionally splits the world into “Doer’s” and “Fun-er’s”, based on how he thinks they approach life. Doer’s are those who “live to work”, having found something that they can sink all their time into and do so near obsessively, basically like Ichabod himself. “Fun-er’s” are those who don’t even “work to live”, instead just subsist upon the political ecosystem, instead doing whatever they please, simply because it’s what they enjoy. He sees no middle ground between the two options, feeling like there’s a chasm between the two despite the fact that it’s actually a plateau that he’s at the extreme side of, and the “Fun-er’s” are at the near opposite side of.
