page 1253 – this food is bad for you
…aaaaand we’re back! Regular, non-Christmas comics resume now! Except I have to specify “Christmas” and not “holiday” because there’s STILL one more extra page for New Years next weekend. THE RIDE NEVER ENDS. But seriously, I hope everybody enjoyed Avatar getting a month-long spotlight. I’m already think of pulling a similar stunt for another neglected character next year. Maybe I’ll hold a thing on Patreon to let people nominate/vote on who it should be? I dunno, something to think about.
In the mean time… I WAS tempted to make a joke about Avi thinking he’s “working hard” is what I think about any of my fellow artists complaining about how tough it is to sit around drawing pictures all day… but then it also struck me that I draw a LOT of comics about food running amok and attacking people, a telling creative choice from a guy who won’t shut up about that time he worked in a restaurant and hated it. I probably shouldn’t be throwing stones.
But in a non-meta sense, I do kind of like the glimpse into Avi’s psychology at work here. The kid really, honestly, genuinely he’s HELPING the other boys and NOT being an abusive, manipulative psychopath. You know, like most people who are just the worst.
Oh, and before I forget again: Sorry new TWC Voting Incentives got so sporadic this month. Between all the extra work and just how confused my schedule got (it’s disturbingly easy to forget what day of the week it is any time I get off an established update cycle), it’s kind of a miracle I got ANY new ones up. I should be more regular from here on out. And speaking of Voting Incentives, just in case anybody missed the announcement on the 25th, THE KILLER STATION OF DEADLY DOOM IS FINALLY COMPLETE AGAIN! Go drop by the gallery and binge the whole thing! RIGHT NOW! …or, you know, whenever is most convenient for you.
I take it that this isn’t normal, and only happened because Ichabod interfered with something in some way that Marshall couldn’t have anticipated.
…And, given that it’s Ichabod and how little the kitchen is used, it’s entirely possible that this is a result of him setting something on fire with the stove-top seven years ago, and this occurred because the gas-burners are the same ones from then.
Blaming Ichabod for anything is usually a safe starting assumption unless explicitly told otherwise.
Actually, thinking about it, given Ichabod’s absolute reluctance to cook anything in any capacity, it’s entirely possible that it’s directly related to Mariska’s last cooking attempt in here. That was probably happened more recently, even if Mariska is rarely on this ship.
She also shares Ichabod’s “It’s safe to assume it’s her fault” credibility. Particularly if she had a date anytime remotely around the period in question.
