page 1219 – sounds perfectly fine to me
Whatever cosmic horrors Tabitha thinks she might glimpse here, there’s no way it’ll turn out to be more unsettling than that disapproving Avatar glare in the bottom panel. That came out WAY creepier than expected. Oh, and hello Wall of Text! Nice to see you again! To be honest, I’m trying to be more “show, don’t tell” with stuff in this comic, but I’m pretty sure this kind of absurdist scifi garble COULDN’T just be explained as it happened. I mean, it doesn’t actually “make sense” even when it’s all laid out in one massive chunk.
Also, was Avatar’s line here influenced by the comments on the previous page? You’re darn tootin’ it was!
OH! Before I forget: there’s gonna be another little extra comic going up on Sunday. Don’t worry, THIS time the whole thing is already finished and edited and ready to post well in advance, so the regular next page or Thursday’s TWC Voting Incentive won’t be affected by it. Those will just be affected by all the OTHER stuff I’ve got going on.
EDIT: D’OH! I know, I know, it’s late anyway, but the new Voting Incentive is finally up!
Even if Tabitha’s last point of denial were actually valid, she’s neglecting the fact that she didn’t start off nearly as broken as these kids, especially Avi, already are. Blue boy would be a strong challenger to Tabitha’s Dad in the who-is-more-completely-delusional contest. Trying to predict how crazy people will react to mindblowing reality distortions of alternate timelines is probably not a good bet no matter how much expert mad scientist you are. But I’m sure it’ll all be fine. What could possibly go wrong? 😉
Tabitha’s big problem is that she’s been around people even crazier than she is for so long that it’s warped her perception of how everybody else will react to stuff.
I started to write “how NORMAL people will react,” but there are no normal people in Far Out There, just different breeds of crazy (so, you know, like real life)
The voting incentive is getting a bit self-referential, but the song was still a hit.
Of course, everyone can identify with it!
