page 1119 – a solid working relationship
(Historical Notes: I’m pretty sure Past Me was focusing on the way Tabitha isn’t actually offended at Layla not trusting her or the way Bridget actually IS offended that somebody would disrespect her Momma like that or the general bait and switch of the page as a whole… but all I can focus on now is how the Pink Hearts effect in the third panel is kind of a misstep in a page that already has this much red lighting all over everything. I either should have picked a different shoujo manga gimmick for that panel or framed the others so that we wouldn’t see the storm. But then, these storm effects were clearly where Past Me’s heart was at this point, so THAT wasn’t gonna happen.)
The Pink Heart Effect is a near-harmless side effect of the temporal storm or other, more natural, temporal issues. Near Harmless, due in part to it’s (usually) temporary effect of amplifying romantic feelings between two people close together, though individual’s having an aggressive reaction to it and mistaking it for falling in love have happened often enough for it to be a reasonable possibility. This hasn’t been overly researched, however, due to the difficulty in predicting, observing, and recording the specific phenomenon, to the point where it’s existence is less known science and more “rumoured hearsay that 9,999/10,000 Mad Scientists would consider bull”. Let alone the Sane Scientists, who 100% believe that it’s existence is merely a lie some people tell to end relationships. The fact that it is used for that purpose only makes attempting to research the rumour all the more difficult.
The Pink Heart Effect is certainly not near-harmless. It’s very Harmful. Specifically for causing all the effects you mentioned. Which are all harmful. Even more so in the hands of Layla!
Bridget, you are only angry because you are unaware of the REASON why the boys are off limits for Tabitha. If you only knew….
Of course it’s a least a decade or so before you’re old enough that we can explain it to you.
And in FOT-character-aging time, that might be hundreds of years from now.
